Ashok Khemka is an Indian bureaucrat in Haryana, India Government. He is an IAS officer in Haryana Government. Ashok Khemka transferred in three days after he asked for Robert Vadra- DLF inquiry. Ashok Khemka was transferred as the DG Haryana Seed Development Corporation on October 11, just three days after he ordered a probe into undervalued land deals between Vadra and DLF on October 8. Before leaving office, Khemka cancelled the mutation of the Rs 58 crore worth plot of land citing irregularities in the transfer of land from Vadra's Sky Light Hospitality Private Limited to the real estate giant.



Early life and education

Ashok Khemka was educated in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP - 1984-1988). He has a Ph.D in Computer Science, as well as an MBA and an M.A degree in economics. [1]

Ashok Khemka is 1991 batch IAS officer. During his 50-day stint in the department, Khemka had detected serious irregularities in land transactions involving transfer of panchayat land worth several hundred crores of rupees to newly created real estate companies.[5] Ashok Khemka claims he has been harassed, transferred 40 times in the last 21 years for merely doing his job. Khemka alleges it is 'malafide and deliberate attempt' to stop him from doing his job. This even as Haryana government refutes all charges levelled by him.


Controversies

He was most recently Haryana’s Director-General of Land Consolidation and Land Records-cum-Inspector-General of Registration. During his 50-day stint in the department, Khemka had detected serious irregularities in land transactions involving transfer of panchayat land worth several hundred crores of rupees to newly created real estate companies.[3] Khemka was transferred out shortly after this. He claims he has been harassed and transferred 43 times in the last 21 years for merely doing his job. [4]

Awards

Awarded ‘S R Jindal Prize – 2011’ for ‘Crusade against Corruption’ with a cash prize of Rs. 10 Lakhs along with Shri Sanjiv Chaturvedi for his fearless efforts in exposing corruption in high places.
